UNDERSHERIFF WILLIAM "TEX" DOWDY

 

Undersheriff William “Tex” Dowdy began his Law Enforcement career in December 2001 as a Police Officer for the City of Alturas. While employed at the Alturas Police Department, William Dowdy held several collateral duties to include; School Resource Officer, K-9 handler and Field Training Officer. In 2007, Dowdy was promoted to Patrol Sergeant. After several years working as a Sergeant, Dowdy was assigned to the Modoc County Inter-Agency Narcotics Task Force as the Unit Commander. He held that position until October 2014 when he transferred over to the Modoc County Sheriff's Office. Dowdy was promoted to Undersheriff in April 2016. The Undersheriff is primarly responsible to provide general management direction and control for the Field Operations Division. The Field Operations Division consists of Uniformed Patrol, Dispatch, Jail and assists the Sheriff as the Assistant Coroner.
